There are different ways to connect the HP OfficeJet 5255 printer to a computer.

Using a USB cable :

  • Switch on the printer and the computer.
  • Download and open the installer file to install the printer driver on the computer.
  • Follow the instructions in the setup window.
  • During the setup process, choose USB for the connection method option.
  • Then, connect one end of a USB 2.0 cable to the computer and the other end to the USB port on the printer’s rear.
  • Now, you can print or scan using the USB connection.

Using Wi-Fi Direct :

  • Press the Home button on the printer.
  • On the home screen, tap on the Wi-Fi Direct icon.
  • Select the Settings icon and enable the Wi-Fi Direct option.
  • On your computer, open the Settings window.
  • Select the Devices menu and then choose Printer & Scanners.
  • Next, find the printer name in the list and click ‘Add device.’
  • The computer will now ask for the WPS PIN; this PIN will be displayed on the printer control panel display.
  • Within 90 seconds, note the PIN and enter it on your computer.
  • Finish the connection setup.
