  • Turn on your printer and laptop.
  • Insert the installation disc to install the printer driver.
  • Download the HP software from the official website of the printer.
  • Navigate to the support page and select Software and Driver Downloads. 
  • Enter your printer model and choose your operating system to download the software. It will get you the latest updated software available for your device.
  • Open the installer file and continue to install the software by following the instructions on the screen.
  • In the Connection type window, select your mode of connection as wired or wireless.

Connecting printer to laptop via a USB cable:

  • Use a USB cable which is less than 3 m lengths to connect your HP Officejet 5255 printer and laptop
  • Locate the USB port on your laptop and plug the USB cable into the printer.
  • Connect another end to the printer.

Connecting the printer to your laptop using the wireless network:

  • Note down the Network name and password of your wireless network.
  • Ensure you have an active internet connection in your network.
  • Make sure to place your wireless router within the range of the network.
  • Turn on your laptop and click the Wi-Fi icon on the Windows taskbar.
  • Keep the Wi-Fi toggle on and search for the available networks.
  • Connect your wireless network by entering the password of your network.
  • On the control panel of the printer, press the Wireless icon and tap Settings.
  • Navigate to the Wireless Setup Wizard. Select your network SSID and enter the password of your network. Then, tap Done and press OK once a successful connection is established.
  • You can print and scan from your laptop quickly.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation on the software.
